The Military Families Support Office is a space created to assist the families of service members and veterans. We work to ensure that every Defender's family has access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to grow and thrive.
The Military Families Support Office is operated by the NGO «Opportunities for the Strong.
To provide comprehensive support to the families of military personnel and veterans in various life situations, advocate for their rights, promote a culture of mutual assistance and respect, and honor the memory of the Fallen Heroes.
A society where the families of military personnel and veterans feel supported, have equal opportunities for development, and where respect for their service is an integral part of national consciousness.
The Office has been operating in Lviv since the first months of the full-scale war, in cooperation with the Lviv Regional Military (State) Administration. We have implemented a unique model - a synergy of civil society, government institutions, and volunteers, to provide comprehensive services to military families in one place. Our work has been recognized by esteemed guests, including First Lady Olena Zelenska, government ministers, officials, and international delegations.
We have processed over 1,000 requests, providing psychological, legal, social, and humanitarian assistance. To mark our first anniversary, we went live with a special broadcast featuring beneficiaries, office partners, military personnel, veterans, and business representatives. In 2023 we received our first grant support came from the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands as part of the "Women, Peace, Security: Acting Together" project, implemented by the Ukrainian Women's Fund. Another grant project was implemented in partnership with the Charitable Foundation "Ukrainian Educational Platform".
We created support and development groups for children and partners of military personnel and veterans, advocated for their needs, and took part in national veteran conferences. We have started implementing the initiative "PidTrymai: Support Centers for Military Families" with the support of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as part of the "Women, Peace, Security: Acting Together" project, led by the Ukrainian Women's Fund.
Over 5,000 requests have been processed. The Office focuses on building sustainable communities, including a youth community for families of service members and veterans, as well as on developing educational, professional, and entrepreneurship programs. The mobile legal aid team covers territorial communities of Lviv Region to ensure access to services in remote areas. The implementation of the "Accessible Social Services for Military Families" project has been launched with the support of ISAR Ednannia and funding from Norway and Sweden. We continue providing case management services, advancing advocacy initiatives, and supporting events held in honor of Fallen Heroes.
